Physical functioning data refer to information capturing a person’s ability to perform basic and instrumental activities of daily living. Basic activities of daily living are the fundamental skills that are required to independently care for oneself include eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, and moving around (mobility). Instrumental activities of daily living are those activities that allow an individual to live independently in a community, including cooking, cleaning, transportation, laundry, and managing finances.
