Co-principal investigator (Co-PI)

A Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) is a term used by some institutions to refer to an investigator who shares scientific and administrative leadership responsibilities for a project with the PI. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) does not recognize the term Co-PI on its grant applications. The NIH uses the term Multiple PIs.
