Blinding

Blinding is a process used in clinical trials to prevent bias. For example, in clinical trials studying a new therapy or intervention, the participants and/or researchers (including all staff involved in the trial) will not know who is receiving the new therapy/intervention during the trial. Studies may be single blind or double blind. Data analysts and evaluators may also be blinded until the analysis and evaluation are complete.
