Validation
« Back to Glossary Index

Validation is a process to establish that the test, tool, or instrument acceptably identifies, measures, or predicts the concept of interest and does so in a way that is reproducible and accurate.

For example, validation may be required to determine if a question in a survey is accurately and reliably interpreted correctly by those taking the survey or to determine the range of conditions under which a biomarker can be used to accurately and reliably measure a specific biological response.
