« Back to Glossary IndexAn implementation study is designed to understand or overcome barriers that slow the incorporation of evidence-based practices (including therapies that receive marketing approval) into routine clinical care. Dissemination studies specifically address educational and related efforts to spread information about evidence-based practice. Both implementation dissemination studies usually start when a specific evidence-based practice is underutilized or predicted to be so.The goal of implementation/dissemination studies as a whole is to improve the quality and effectiveness of health and medical care by reducing the evidence-to-practice gap in the current system.
