Clinical study design refers to the methods and strategies that will be used in a clinical study. The goal of the design is to be able to reach a valid and meaningful scientific conclusion using appropriate statistical methods. The elements of a clinical design include determining eligibility and exclusion criteria, clinical sites, clinical outcome measures, and study procedures.
